Brand New PEFCU Debit & Credit Cards

Card Activation Date – August 9, 2023. 

 


Attention all members of Penn East FCU! We are pleased to inform you that by now, all members holding a Penn East FCU Mastercard credit and debit card should have received their brand-new contactless credit and debit cards. These new cards come with enhanced features and increased convenience, providing you with a seamless payment experience. We wanted to inform you about this upcoming change and provide you with some important details regarding the transition. Digital Wallet will be ready soon.


Debit CardHolders FAQ’s

  1. Q: Why is my debit card being replaced?  We are converting your debit card to a new contactless Mastercard card to provide you with enhanced convenience, improved security features, and a seamless payment experience.
  2. Q: When will I receive my new PEFCU Debit Card?  You will receive your new card starting at the end of July 2023 with detailed instructions. Please keep it in a safe place until August 9th.
  3. Q: When can I activate my new card? You can activate your new card on August 9th, 2023.
  4. Q: Can I activate it before August 9th?  You cannot activate your new Debit Card prior to August 9th.
  5. Q: When will my old card stop working?  Your old Penn East debit card will be deactivated on August 9th, 2023, regardless of the expiration date.
  6. Q: Will my old PIN work on my new card?  No, your old PIN will not work with the new card. You will need to select a unique PIN by calling the number on the new card’s activation label and choosing the PIN option.
  7. Q: Am I being charged for a new debit card? Absolutely not. There are no fees or charges associated with obtaining our new Debit Card.
  8. Q: Will my card information change? Yes, you will receive a new card number, expiration date, and three-digit security code.
  9. Q: What if I have my debit card set up for recurring payments?  Once your new card is activated on August 9th, 2023, please remember to update your card information, including the new card number, expiration date, and three-digit security code, with the merchants you have set up for recurring payments, as well as any online shopping websites where you have saved your card information, to ensure uninterrupted service.
  10. Q: Will this change what kind of checking account I have?  No, this conversion will not affect any of the terms or conditions associated with the type of checking account you currently have with Penn East.
  11. Q I have a PEFCU Member Rewards checking account. Will my July transaction count towards my rewards? Yes, all qualifying transactions made with your PEFCU debit card in July will be counted towards your rewards. You will continue to earn rewards based on your eligible transactions, according to the terms of your Member Rewards checking account. Your Rewards account will continue to function as normal after you activate your new PEFCU Debit Card on August 9th.
  12. Q: Do I still have access to Surcharge-free ATMs? Yes, you still have access to 30,000 ATMs and 5,000+ shared branches with our vendor CUDollar and CUAlliance. Locate the ATMS you need using CUDollar.org or CUAlliance.com

  7. Q: Will this affect my rate or credit score? No, we will not be changing any rates or pulling credit. You will continue to have the same rate you currently have.
  8. Q Will any fees or credit card payment due date change? No, nothing fundamentally will change with the terms and conditions of your credit card.
  9. Q: What if I have my credit card set up for recurring payments? After August 9th, 2023, please remember to update your card information, including the new card number, expiration date, and three-digit security code, with the merchants you have set up for recurring payments, as well as any online shopping websites where you have saved your card information, to ensure uninterrupted service.
  10. Q: Is there anything else about my new credit card I should know? Yes, your new MasterCard Credit Card will no longer have the “No-cost travel accident insurance” coverage provided.

Keeping our members informed about important projects is a top priority. Here is the timeline of communications we have implemented regarding the new card conversion project:

January 2023: Penn East Project Announcement flyer inserted into all member January statements.
February 2023: Project Announcement animation video shared on all social media channels and through the e-newsletter.
June 2023: Large posters and window flyers displayed in branches, teller handouts provided to members, website updates, Summer 2023 newsletter, Animated Explainer video, and Summer Newsletter Email
July 2023: Social media posts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. An email directly to cardholders whose email addresses we have on file. A corporate website homepage alert banner will also be displayed. Instructions were inserted in both new card letters.

 

By implementing these communication channels, we aim to ensure that our members are well-informed about the upcoming new card conversion. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to providing enhanced card features and benefits.
