The holiday season has arrived and for many high school students that means it is finally Winter Break. Winter Break is a great time to relax and catch up with family, but it is also the perfect time to start applying for college scholarships.
Looking at the price of college can be pretty daunting, but scholarships are a great source of financial assistance for students. Unlike student loans, scholarships do not need to be repaid. They can significantly lessen the financial burden of college and reduce financial stress allowing you to focus on your studies.
There are a wide variety of scholarships available to students. The types of scholarships include but are not limited to academic scholarships, sports scholarships, and even scholarships for hobbies and organizations you may be a part of such as a credit union.
At Penn East FCU, we award three one-year $2,500 scholarships based academic excellence, citizenship, and community and school involvement. If you are a high school senior, we encourage you to apply! Our current scholarship application for 2025 is open now until Wednesday February 5, 2025.
If you’re making plans for a college education, don’t underestimate the power of scholarships. Give yourself the gift of free money towards your education this holiday season.
